In my 25 years of experience, I’ve seen a lot of patients successfully recover from car accident injuries. Through chiropractic care, exercise and physical therapy, you can rehabilitate your body now to prevent suffering later in life.
What exactly is whiplash?
Whiplash is the stretching and tearing of connective tissues. Unlike a broken bone, which can usually heal in 6 weeks, without proper care and rehabilitation your tissues may stay damaged and affect you the rest of your life.
I was a research assistant with the Spine Research Institute in San Diego. What I’ve learned over and over is that improperly healed injuries cause scar tissue to build up. Later in life many people feel this delayed effect of whiplash, causing pain and discomfort.
What You See is Not What You Get
What appears to be minor damage to your car doesn’t mean the effects on your body are minor.
At the scene, with a lot of adrenaline going through your body after an accident, many people don’t feel pain or discomfort right away. It can become noticeable days and weeks later.
A few days later, inflammation peaks and people may start to experience discomfort in the form of pain, numbness or weakness. Car accidents can also cause mild concussions showing up as headaches, migraines, anxiety, irritability and/or insomnia.
Florida Law | Your 2 Week Window
If you’ve been involved in an accident, it’s important to get checked right away. Even if you think there isn’t anything wrong, there could be. Take advantage of the window of opportunity right after your accident to help yourself heal so that you don’t have to live with pain later in life.
Florida law will cover your care if you get evaluated within the first 14 days of your accident. If a doctor doesn’t evaluate you within those first 14 days, then you waive your right to utilize those benefits for care.
